OCIA

Jesus established the Catholic Church so that we may have fullness of life through participation in the Sacraments. Through the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA), adults enter fully into the Body of Christ, the Church. This is a beautiful gift that Christ desires to share with every person!

Want to learn more? 

At Newman, we invite all students who are interested in learning about the Catholicism to attend OCIA classes. Whether you are just curious about the faith, are certain you want to become Catholic, or are already Catholic but haven’t received all of your sacraments, please feel welcome to join!

When and where do classes meet?

Sunday evenings at Newman throughout the school year. Beginning in September, classes run through the Easter season and culminates in the celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation at Easter.

How much does it cost?

No cost!

Who should attend?

There are two paths that lead to full communion with the Church:

The catechumenate is for adults who want to be baptized.

Candidacy is for those who are baptized but have yet to receive the Eucharist and Confirmation.​

Catechumens and Candidates journey together through OCIA.
